Expert Commentary typically addresses topics including:

Contributions are concise and responsive, offering focused analysis rather than comprehensive research papers.
Who contributes
The Expert Commentary Programme is intended for external contributors, including:
- Academics and researchers
- Policy professionals and practitioners
- Serving or former diplomats and civil servants
- Active-duty or former military personnel
- Professionals working in relevant policy, defence, or economic fields
Contributors participate on a non-affiliated basis and are not members of CISES staff, the Policy Analyst Programme, or the Fellowship Programme.
Recent Expert Commentary contributors have included Dr Andreas Fulda and Professor Marcin Skladanowski, alongside other academics and practitioners working in international security and economic policy.
Editorial approach
All Expert Commentary pieces are subject to editorial review to ensure clarity, analytical quality, and relevance.
Expert Commentary reflects the views of the author alone and does not represent the institutional position of CISES.

The Expert Commentary Programme does not operate a formal application process.
